Over 10 Years of Commitment to the Victor Hugo Eco-Neighbourhood
For over 10 years, Arte Charpentier has worked alongside the city of Bagneux and Sadev 94 in the design, evolution, and realization of urban projects. Our involvement in the Victor Hugo eco-neighbourhood embodies this commitment, laying the foundation for a sustainable urban transformation that respects natural life.
Urban Planning: A Long-Term Vision
The timeline of urban planning differs from that of construction. It requires a long-term vision to create a city that evolves and adapts to the changing needs of its residents. In the Victor Hugo eco-neighbourhood, this vision has taken shape through a nature-based urbanism. Key natural elements—soil, water, and vegetation—were made the cornerstones of our design. The Rolland/Courbet district perfectly demonstrates this approach.
Some key figures highlight our approach:
- 27% of the ground area is permeable and vegetated, fostering biodiversity and sustainable resource management.
- 120 trees have been planted in public spaces, streets, and alleys.
- Rainwater is managed in open channels, which not only expands green areas but also cools the air, enhancing urban comfort.
A Strong and Lasting Partnership
This project could not have come to life without close collaboration with the city of Bagneux. We would like to extend our thanks to Marie-Hélène Amiable, Yasmine Boudjenah, Pascale Meker, and Corinne Poujol for their unwavering support. We also express our gratitude to the Sadev 94 teams for their continued trust, especially Elsa Sautter, Juliette Béziat, François Taroni, Yannick Henry, and Noémie Carric.
This solid partnership is rooted in a shared philosophy of how urban projects should be developed. Our common goal: to enhance the well-being of residents through prioritizing nature and designing with environmental respect in mind. This ambition is reflected in ambitious design briefs, ensuring that the architects can contribute within a virtuous framework.
Projects Carried by Dedicated Actors
We would like to thank the architects and developers who met the challenges head-on, creating vibrant spaces and innovative architecture. The companies responsible for the public spaces, such as La Moderne (with Julien Arnaud and Romain Aubry) and Even (with Mourad Mehdi), played key roles, particularly in establishing lush, well-maintained vegetation.
Dialogue, the Key to Success in Bagneux
In Bagneux, dialogue is central to the process. We have made it a priority to develop effective communication tools with residents to better understand their needs and desires. This approach fosters a sense of ownership and guarantees a harmonious, pleasant living environment for all.
A Team Effort
Finally, we would like to highlight the tremendous work of the Berim teams, particularly Amine Nasser and Nicolas Vaillant, as well as our own team of urban planners and landscape architects at Arte Charpentier: Karen Le Bris, Nicolas Simon, Silvia Pucci, Alexandre Andrieu, and Julien Blanquet. Their professionalism and dedication have resulted in the creation of a neighbourhood designed to enhance the quality of life for the people of Bagneux.
