We are very pleased to share this new award for the firm in urban planning.
This is the Wuhan Urban Project Excellence Award 2023 – 武汉市优秀城市规划设计 一等奖, which rewards the regeneration of the ancient center of Zhifang, Wuhan.
The urban planning project is based on the 2000-year-old layout of the city’s canals, which had been obstructed by concrete slabs. By reopening the canals to the open air and enhancing their surroundings, the agency has created a green and blue meta-network. This mesh absorbs rainwater thanks to the meandering design of the banks, which slows the flow of water and helps to welcome wildlife with its damp flora.
