Concept
The Accor Group’s hotel complex was designed in the heart of the Roissypôle business district. The programme includes an 308-room Ibis Styles Hotel, as well as a Pullman Hotel with 294 rooms of which 11 are suites, and a restaurant (116 seats) with terrace, a bar-lobby and a business area with 13 modular lounges (1600 m²).
The agency, which won the competition launched by Aéroports de Paris in March 2011, designed two separate hotels for the Accor group on a plot of 4,102 m² in the heart of the Roissypôle business district: a building housing an Ibis Styles hotel (308 rooms) and a prestigious Pullman Hotel (294 rooms).
The two ACCOR hotels, located opposite the RER A Roissypôle metro exit “Aéroport Charles-de-Gaulle 1”, were designed in the same gesture and propose an innovative architectural writing. The facades of the two buildings were treated in the same way: colours and materials chosen to let light in, with screen-printed glass partially covering the glazing, creating a sober and modern checkerboard that provides an astonishing kinetic illusion in addition to the thousands of LEDs that form graphic lines that run along the walls, illuminating the buildings day and night. This gives a coherence to the complex whilst inscribing it in a strong architectural gesture.
The Accor Hotels project is in architectural harmony with the existing buildings, extending the urban continuity and marking the transition to a renewed writing in line with current sustainable development requirements and the future development of the neighbourhood, particularly the airport development to the north.
The space between the hotels is transformed into a convivial square, partially protected by glass windows in the shape of flower petals, a true catalyst of urban life, an extension of the bar, a place of exchange or transit. The ground floor is lively. The established activities contribute to the commercial attractiveness. The reception and the restaurant are largely glazed and overlook the outside areas. The generous ceiling heights on the ground floor open onto the public space and will satisfy both the requirements of the hotelier, and those of the City and its users.
In order to break with the dense character involved in this type of large-scale programme, Arte Charpentier opted for a project with subtly fragmented volumes, interspersed with caesurae. The fluidity of the lines and the curves of the structure also stem from this desire for lightening. As part of this project, Arte Charpentier was also entrusted with the exterior development of the site, from plants to soil treatment and the public spaces.
The hotel hub creates a strong visual impact, making this an urban gateway that opens onto the city, orients visitors and renews the image of Roissypôle.
